Alvaro Tapia Hidalgo

Alvaro is a graphic designer and film maker that was born in Chile. he is currently living and working
in Granada,Spain. he started working in graphic design in 1992 and film making in 2002.
most of his art is focused on illustration with mixed media utilizing traditional
techniques and digital processing.

Alvaro gets his inspiration from a variety of sources and believes that any situation or context can provide input that can be used creatively.
most of his illustration work is fueled by film icons whose expressions are of horror and dread.he is also interested in medical and scientific
imagery from the 1940's and 1950's. as well as urban culture, fashion, and the various ways people wear clothes.












Alvaro hopes to convey the grotesqueness that can emerge from distorted appearances. he believes it helps add a disturbing feeling to his characters.



some artists that inspire Alvaro are the works of Francis Bacon, and Lucian Freud.



when asked what occupation he would've chosen had he not become an artist,he would've been a butcher.
